A standout week at London Build 2025
Last week was London Build Expo 2025: a brilliant two day event at Olympia in London, and a busy couple of days for the Onetrace team. We had the chance to speak with people from every corner of the industry—main contractors, specialist trades, subcontractors, consultants, architects and everyone in between—attend talks and panels on a wide range of topics, and remind ourselves just how ambitious the sector is about raising the bar on quality and safety.
Across the show, one theme kept coming up: people want clarity. Clarity in documentation, clarity in the way information flows between teams and clarity in how decisions get made on site. Whether we were talking about handovers, QA evidence, RAMS, or how to keep multiple stakeholders aligned through a project’s lifecycle, the message was the same—teams need tools and processes that help them do great work without adding more friction.
“The enemy of any project handover is inconsistency.”
— Bridging the gap between subcontractors and main contractors
The sessions throughout the event reinforced this. From AI and digital construction to fire safety and modern methods of construction, speakers focused on integration over fragmentation, and on practical ways to reduce the noise that slows projects down. It was encouraging to hear how aligned the industry is becoming on this.
“There’s a difference between things that can be automated and things that should be automated.”
— The AI Question: A threat to jobs or a catalyst for a digital workforce evolution
One of the biggest highlights for us was the panel Greg McClelland, our co-founder, joined on the Fire Safety Stage. His panel explored how to bring together data from across a project, how to make documentation meaningful rather than mechanical and how standardising the way we communicate can transform collaboration between main contractors and subcontractors. Hearing so many people echo these challenges—and these ambitions—was energising.
“A digital record doesn’t necessarily mean a good record.”
— Bridging the gap between subcontractors and main contractors
All of this gave us a huge amount to reflect on.
London Build wasn’t just an opportunity to showcase what we do—it was a chance to listen, to learn and to get a clearer picture of what the industry needs next. We’re grateful to everyone who stopped to share their experiences, frustrations and ideas. Those conversations will directly shape how we continue evolving Onetrace.
If you spoke with us and want to pick things up, we’d love to continue the conversation.
And if you didn’t make it this year but want to see what we’ve been working on, you can book a demo and we’ll walk you through it.
